DEREK V. SMITH

Derek Smith is chairman and chief executive officer of ChoicePoint (NYSE:
CPS), the company was formed by the spin-off of the Insurance Services Group
from Equifax as an independent, publicly-traded company.
Smith is a former executive vice president of Equifax, responsible
as group executive for the Insurance Services Group. As senior vice
president and chief financial officer of Equifax (1991-1992), he led
the implementation of a new corporate financial strategy including
a 150 million dollar Dutch auction repurchase of Equifax stock. He
also served previously as corporate vice president and treasurer with
overall financial and corporate development accountability for the
600 million dollar acquisition of Telecredit, Inc.
Smith was also executive vice president of Equifax Credit Services
and was responsible for a 34-state national credit reporting expansion
initiative which included a landmark joint partnership with a major
competitor, Computer Sciences Corporation. His other corporate assignments
included president, Equifax Marketing Services, vice president and
executive assistant to the chief executive officer, and staff vice
president, finance. He joined Equifax in 1981 as an assistant vice
president.
Smith is a former member of the Equifax board of directors and serves
on the board of Zoo Atlanta and the Society of International Business
Fellows. He presently serves on the board of directors of ChoicePoint
and Metris Companies as well as the board of governors of The Golf
Club of Georgia and the board of trustees of The Educational Foundation,
Georgia State University.
Smith is an honor graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a
degree in computer science and holds a masters degree in business
management from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is pursuing
a doctorate researching the impact of technological innovation on
consumer buying behavior of financial services products.
Smith, a native of Sayville, New York, lives with his wife and daughter
in Roswell, an Atlanta suburb.
